PDF signatures, forms and processing limits

Learn when page tools are suitable and when a dedicated application is necessary.

A modified document is a different record

Merging, splitting or rotating a digitally signed PDF changes its document structure. A signature on the original cannot be assumed valid on the new file. Keep the original signed record and use a validated signing workflow if the edited output also needs a signature.

Advanced PDF features need care

Page copying preserves visible page content in ordinary PDFs, but interactive fields, bookmarks, embedded files, layers and accessibility structures may not be retained as expected. These tools do not promise PDF/A compliance or preserve an interactive form. Verify important outputs in the application your recipient will use.

Respect device and file limits

Use unencrypted PDFs up to 50 MB in total, no more than 20 input files and 500 pages. Individual-page splitting is limited to 100 outputs. Processing is canceled after 60 seconds. A phone with limited memory may need smaller files even within these limits. Damaged or password-protected files return a retryable error.
